what is the difference between"resident" and "inhabitant"

Like the topic said, what is the difference between "resident" and "inhabitant"?

    @mheredge @swathi thank you very much for your replies, i have gotten the differences between them. I think the main difference is inhabitant sometimes includes animals, but resident means only humans :#

    1. A person or an animal that lives in a particular place.that is called Inhabitant.

    Resident
    1. A person who lived in a particular place or who has their own house there.
