On this breezy October morn, I walk
in the swift shadows of cloud-cursing rooks,
watching the world wake on the horizon.
Leo Yankevich
All houses wherein men have lived and died
Are haunted houses. Through the open doors
The harmless phantoms on their errands glide,
With feet that make no sound upon the floors.

We meet them at the doorway, on the stair,
Along the passages they come and go,
Impalpable impressions on the air,
A sense of something moving to and fro.

Hello my name's Geraldine. I'm glad to participate in this forum.
I'm a little lost with the different kind of activities : forum, groups, skype chat, etc.
Obviously, it's impossible to participate in the skype chat without 2 stars... I hope I could have these soon.
I would like to improve my english for finding a new job and for travelling too.
My primare concern is to succeed in spoken language.
It's difficult because in France, when we learn english, we don't speak a lot.
What about you? Have you make progress with this forum?
    Please to read you,

    Welcome to the forum @MAX.

It's so great to read that you are not learning English just to pass exams. :D

You'll come across people from many different countries and walks of life here, so I think you'll have your content when it comes to become virtually well-travelled.

If you ever get lost or have any questions, feel free to ask.

    Welcome to the forum @geraldine.

You have landed in a great place to keep improving your English. Since I got involved with the LE Network activities, my English has sky-rocketed. It doesn't happen as by magic though, but the more you'll do and get involved, the more you will benefit from all the ressources the Network offers.

You're right, to join the Skype sessions you need to win your 2nd forum star first, but be aware that you can already join all the oth"r voice sessions. For example, Back to Basics at 10 AM tomorrow in a Google Hangout is open to us all, no matter the stars.

Here is the calendar of events if you feel curious about the different sessions.

    Have fun!

    Hello Everyone,

My name is Muhamad, 27 years old from Morocco, another English learner joining you trying to shape up my speaking skills, I'm a software engineer and English is highly required to achieve my career goals, I tried many times to find a serious language partner but 99% of the people I've met were joining those language partners' websites only for dating purposes (not even looking for serious relationships ), Hopefully I'll be able to improve here, Thank you.

Welcome @merraysy. I hope you find LEO a useful way to improve your English. When you have contributed to the forum for a while, you can join some of the Skype sessions if you want. There are lots of topics to comment on, to practice writing. If you were looking for a social network, I'm not sure if this is the right place but if you want to learn English, you're definitely in the right place.

    Hi, I'm arisandi1717
i'm newbie here, I join this Forum to improve my english skills, especially in writing and speaking...
would you tell me which group I should join in? thank you.
  • PaulettePaulette Posts: 6,655 ✭✭✭✭✭
@arisandi1717 welcome in this fantastic group. If you want to make progress in writing then you have to write something in the many discussion groups. You will find all sorts of topics under the different categories. The discus groups and categories can be clicked on the left side of your screen, the same as you are now also in the category of new members.
To speak, you can join the sKype group soon, but you need to be a full member first and you can be admitted by @Lynne, the main teacher and administrator of this platform.
I hope to meet you very soon in different discussions.
