By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

Helen Hunt Jackson - September
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.

John Updike, September

This is a story about an Oxford professor teaching behind the Iron Curtain:

Well, I am reading her essay about Aristotle's concept of psyche and I don't agree with her views on Descartes's alleged solipsism. But she was courageous. :)

A quote about Descartes: "Contrast the picture fostered by the Cartesian mens. We are locked into our
solipsistic consciousness; bothered about how to establish that there is anything
outside it, let alone whether there are other minds."
