You might have noticed that there are badges on this forum.

You earn badges by being active and with most badges you get extra points.

If you would like a particular badge you can request one, but you have to give a reason.

Country Badges

For 2014 we will be creating some country badges.

Country badges show what your first language is. You don't have to display one, but it might be fun to find other native speakers who are learning English.

You can request a country badge here, just leave a message.

Target language badges

If you are learning a particular language you can display a target language badge.

You can request a target language badge here.

Thank you @Lynne for the new Badges.

Oh, I forgot to ask you about French, I speak it fluently ? So...... :-?

You can have a French flag if you want. It's more about the language than geography. :)

I'd like to request target badges for Nepali, Hindi and Tibetan please @Lynne. I am revising the Sanskrit alphabet and have just started learning the Tibetan alphabet. They sound similar but are written differently.

As for country badges, French and British are obvious but does nine years in Nepal qualify me for a Nepal flag?

@science24 Pourquoi haïr? Nous aimons Napoléon. :)

I'm not sure what waving flags is about though? I mean, how is it helping with English?

Totally agree @mheredge, no English no badges. =))
So I can forget my "retired" badge too.
    Don't think I'll ever get that. :))

    Hi @Lynne
English / German and French (target)
  • LynneLynne Your Teacher HomePosts: 8,817 mod
@Mheredge, Don't worry, it's not compulsory. I just thought it would be nice for some people to do a language swap, or just find support from anyone who is having similar "issues" learning English. :D

@April - Let me know what kind of picture you would like for a retiree badge, and I will see what I can do.

Have you transfered the comments from another topic @Lynne?
    I don't remember posting in Badges . :)

We are definitely ageing, @april :)
  • mheredgemheredge Wordsmith Here and therePosts: 24,530 mod
I'm still an aspiring retiree but there's a few more years to go. Two days ago I was asked if it was okay to have given my age as 40 to book a rail ticket. But today I was asked if I'd taken advantage of the old age concession (60)!

    Hi @Lynne!
I would like a Brazilian Portuguese country badge and a English target language badge.

  • LynneLynne Your Teacher HomePosts: 8,817 mod
    @April,

    Look above!

I am creating the flag badges. Other badges will need to be discussed (like the traveller badge).
  • mheredgemheredge Wordsmith Here and therePosts: 24,530 mod
    What's the traveller badge?

I'm afraid we are not talking about the same thing @Lynne.
We are not on the same wavelength. :)

BTW @mheredge, if you get your traveller badge just remember that I have nominated you for that badge. :))
