There is wind where the rose was,
Cold rain where sweet grass was,
And clouds like sheep
Stream o'er the steep
Grey skies where the lark was.

Nought warm where your hand was,
Nought gold where your hair was,
But phantom, forlorn,
Beneath the thorn,
Your ghost where your face was.

Cold wind where your voice was,
Tears, tears where my heart was,
And ever with me,
Child, ever with me,
Silence where hope was.

Maybe the last Wimbledon that the most European supporters can travel to UK easily?

    Third day of the tournament.
I haven't got time to watch until now. :(
I'm watching at this moment ..... ooh Cliff Richard is spotted in the tribune!

It's difficult to follow the matches because a lot of them are cancelled due to the rain. :(

@Xanthippe , Agnetha Radwanska is still going strong in Wimbledon, though. :)

    @April, indeed she is. :)
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,349 mod
Who else are still in running?
Well, the sisters Williams of course.
I've just watched a great match from Serena against Christina McHale, also from USA.
But, now it's high time to switch the channel to the UEFA match!

On the other hand, Novak is out!
What happened? Sorry to hear that, @Rema .

    Yes @april , what a pity :(
That wasn't the same Novak, I hope that he will be ready to play his best tennis soon.
Sam Querrey was great in this match with his great serve, congratulations to him ;)

Federer has the chance to get the title, now.
Or we'll have an unexpected winner!

BTW, it's Sunday tennis today, to make up the cancelled matches in the previous days due to the rain.
Normally they have a break on Sunday.

    Sorry for Novak Djokovic!!
    A. Radwanska is a good player I think.I hope she can make it to final!!
I was a great fan of Nadel but this days I don't watch tennis like before!!

Nadal doesn't play here, @navidafrasiabian due to injuries.

The weather in the second week is much better than the first week, hopefully for the rest of the week.

The sisters Williams are in the semi final now.
Let's see if Federer and Murray can go through to the semi final tomorrow.

The Men's singles quarter finals matches were all thriller.
Federer and Murray have reached the semi final after difficult five set matches, but luckily they won't meet each other in the semi.
    Maybe in the final.

You tennis fans, any ideas who this is?

  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,349 mod
I don't think he is a tennis player, @mheredge. Right?
    An actor?
I almost recognise his face, but ...
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 28,080 mod
Nope, tennis @april. Hint, you have to think back a few years.

    John Lloyd, @mheredge ?
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 28,080 mod
No @april. Another hint: a classmate of mine when I was at school had a crush on him. Though maybe this is not so helpful if you don't have any idea of how old I am!

    Tom Okker!
That must have been ages ago, @mheredge !
It is not possible that your schoolmate had a crush on him.
You couldn't be that old. :)
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 28,080 mod
Yes @april! He was ranked among the world's top 10 singles players for seven consecutive years, 1968–74, reaching a career high of World No. 3 in 1969. He also was ranked World No. 1 in doubles in 1969.

It was in the mid seventies I think, when my friend was totally besotted!

Wow, I love Wimbledon. It was an absolutely huge part of my childhood, and I still enjoy watching it now that I am an adult!
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 28,080 mod
He's 76 now @april. My friend always did fancy older guys (but ended up married someone her own age).
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,349 mod
He still looks good, @mheredge and in the picture he looked British :) .
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,349 mod
Ladies singles final will be settled between USA and Germany namely: Serena Williams vs Angelique Kerber.
This time I'll support Germany (unlike in the football match between France and Germany where I definitely supported France :) )

The Men's singles will be played between Murray vs Raonic.
It's a pity that Roger Federer couldn't make it to the final.
He lost in five sets to Raonic.
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 28,080 mod
Oh my friend will be very sad @april. She adores Federer.

    Me too, @mheredge .
I would have been very happy to see Federer win again in the twilight of his career.
He is already 34 years old, moreover.
On the other hand, Serena Williams got her 22nd Grand Slam title on Saturday by winning the Ladies Singles Championship in Wimbledon.
She is 34 years old too!

How old is the oldest winner of Wimbledon @april? Is 34 seen as 'old'?
