Do you enjoy shopping?

GemmaRowlandsGemmaRowlands ModeratorPosts: 4,677 mod
Shopping is something that most people do on a daily basis, and there are many ways in which people shop, including in store, online, or via the telephone.

There are also different people you can shop with - your parents, partner, children, or even by yourself.

I like to shop with my mother the best, as she enjoys the same type of shopping as me. I prefer to shop for food than clothes.

What about you? How do you like to shop? And who do you shop with?

I think that I have commented about my shopping experience in the similar thread. I enjoy shopping and whenever I feel bored or want some change, I go shopping with my sisters. For me, company also matters a lot when I go shopping as I don't enjoy it when I go with my mom as she doesn't let me to spend money too much. :) :)

I agree that company is important whilst shopping @Bubbly as there are some people who you could really enjoy shopping with, whereas others don't make the experience quite as fun for you!

@GemmaRowlands Shopping is more like a fun for me. I thoroughly enjoy it, talk to shopkeepers, bargain, ask them about rates, etc. I also like bazaars where I can get variety of things on the same stall. :)

I need to go shopping on my own @GemmaRowlands and @Bubbly, as otherwise I get distracted I or get worried that I'm boring the other person with my fussiness.

@mheredge it means that you spend too much time in shopping. :)

I don't think people should get bored with you shopping @mheredge because they could go and look at something to entertain themselves whilst you look!

Yes.. But it depends if i have a lot of money..
  • GemmaRowlandsGemmaRowlands Moderator Posts: 4,677 mod
@dyep24 it is much better to go shopping when you have the money to spend, isn't it! Then you don't have to worry about whether you can afford what you want to buy or not.

I like shopping for special things, but I hate shopping for everyday things.

Yes @dyep24 I agree it's much better if you have enough money. Oh, and it's great to see you here, too!

@Lynne I agree fully, although I don`t like getting into those changing rooms.

Yesterday, I went with my sister for shopping. We bought four to five dresses of the next season. I couldn't resist to buy a pair of stylish shoes, though I don't need them.

I bet you enjoyed shopping for dresses @Bubbly I am hoping to do the same in a couple of weeks, though I don't have as much money spare as I would have liked, as I had to buy a new laptop yesterday which was a bit of a shame.

I enjoy shopping whenever I got bored I go to nearest mall and purchase something but sometimes I think it is waste of money also because some times I have brought things which are not necessary and simply kept idle in cupboard But shopping is one type of timepass to me or way of refreshing my mind

@GemmaRowlands I also like to buy new dresses but now I have changed my mind on it as I can't wash them and iron them on weekly basis. How lazy!
  • GemmaRowlandsGemmaRowlands Moderator Posts: 4,677 mod
@susheela I always buy things that I don't need when I'm bored. That is a very bad habit that I need to try and get out of if I can!

Yes, I quite enjoy shopping but I would prefer online shopping rather than going shopping. I don't know why but I'm hooked on visiting Amazon website.

That's the problem with fashion it change with every season. Well, I have to say that I really enjoy going shopping a few weeks before the start of the season, because this way you are free to pick all the items of clothing that you have previously watched online.

@thegingerelvis At the start of the season, usually shopkeepers display the old stuff and markdown the prices upto 50% just to attract their customers. I first look for the new trend then decide what to buy. Usually the shopkeepers rip me off as they can easily detect from my expressions that I will buy a particular item in anycase.

@thegingerelvis I also really enjoy Amazon, and I find that it has everything that I need on there usually, which is great, as I don't need to go anywhere else for it.

Here in Spain it's the other way around, especially with Zara and all Zara's brands. Is it cheap buy at Zara in the country where you live? Do you know Zara? Don't you?

Absolutely yes. They have a lot of interesting things; for example, I bought a really beautiful brown leather pair of boots for winter and I'm really happy for it. I have to say that this season it has been almost impossible to find some footwear for me.

Shopping spontaneously and when it's a bargain is my favourite way of shopping.

A shop I pass was selling old stock T-shirts for the equivalent of 2.50 USD. They have changed the fabric of the T-shirts they make to a much thinner quality (in my view inferior). So I snapped up several of these very attractive and colourful garments as they always come in handy.

@thegingerelvis I am from Pakistan and there is Zara garments collection here. (Obviously different from the Zara brand in Spain). The only issue with these brands is that you don't get anything with reasonable rates even if they markdown the prices.
  • mheredgemheredge Wordsmith Here and therePosts: 25,675 mod
Same here @Bubbly. There are 'Zara' brand clothes at outrageously high prices. I don't know who buys them.
  • BubblyBubbly Nightingale Posts: 30,007 ✭✭✭✭✭✭
@mheredge I am not brand conscious so it doesn't matter which brand is in or which is out. :) I prefer those dresses that are comfortable.

Today I have been food shopping, and I will admit that I enjoyed it quite a lot because I had a voucher that I was able to use, so I didn't have to pay very much money for it at all.
