By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer.

Helen Hunt Jackson - September
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel-
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Burning brush,
New books, erasers,
Chalk, and such.
The bee, his hive,
Well-honeyed hum,
And Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
A morning haze.

John Updike, September

Let's make sentences using these phrasal verbs.

- Cut down (reduce)
- Cut off (disconnect)
- Cut out (cut a smaller piece from a piece of cloth or paper etc.)
- Cut short (make short, make silent)

    Let me start:

While I was advising my sister to cut down her needless expenses, the connection cut off.

I had to cut short my talk with her because she was busy cutting out the cloth for her dress.

Cut down - I want to cut down my weight so I go for a morning walk daily.
Cut off - You can't cut off any discussion without a proper conclusion.
Cut out - My niece has just cut out all my important documents and I am totally out of my mind.:)
Cut short - Day by day, the protesters have cut short their demands in order to make it viable.

Your niece probably wouldn't be able to cut out whole documents, only parts of them @Bubbly. And when editing, you could just use 'cut' to say: the section that was out of date was cut by the editor.

@mheredge it was just a sentence. She actually did once with my students' assignment but thanks God I was there to rescue it.

    Well done @Naaz. I'm impressed. :)

    Here is a slight correction:-
    - She cut herself off from all the social networking site. OR
    - She has cut herself off from social networking. (I would say)

    - She cut down all her stress with a good head massage. OR
    - Whilst massaging her head, she cut all her stress down.

    - Let's cut our way short to reach our/the destination.

    Anyway. Good sentences. :)
