In lands I never saw -- they say
Immortal Alps look down --
Whose bonnets touch the firmament --
Whose sandals touch the town --

Meek at whose everlasting feet
A myriad daisy play --
Which, Sir, are you and which am I
Upon an August day?

Something important for the earth and especially for me, @aryarchi .
  • aryarchiaryarchi Posts: 864 ✭✭✭
Really?! You don't want to tell me about it or shall I search about it on internet?

Is it your birthday @april? Mine is a couple of days later, so I'm truly a spring baby! :)

    It's Solar Eclipse! :)
    It fascinates me always.
What about you, @aryarchi, @mheredge, anybody?

It's very interesting @april. If you follow the link beneath, you can find extra information, like an animated map to show you where exactly you can see the eclipse. There's also a small video available to show you precisely what will happen and photos of former eclipses that provide links to more information. http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/solar/2015-march-20

I know the link, @Frank . (and a lot of another links, because I'm quite obsessed by this kind of phenomenes. :) )
I hope the weather will allow me to follow the eclipse in Antwerp (it's only a partial eclipse for Europe).
Amsterdam or Brussels will be a better place to watch.

I like the feeling that summer is on it's way @april, but I doubt I'll remember to keep an eye out for the eclipse.

@april solar eclipse considered demon in many parts of Asia. Isn't it!

  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,125 mod
    Yes, some superstitions, @bubbli .
Do you know the comic "Tintin in Peru"?
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,125 mod
@zahir, will you be able to watch the eclipse from where you live?
  • HermineHermine Moderator Posts: 6,076 mod
The today`s newspaper reports about the upcoming event on 20. 3. I will have to purchase a pair of special glasses. @april

I can not able to watch that @april as I'm from south Asian country Bangladesh. I gave you thanks as I knew it from you.

@zahir, if I may correct your sentence: (honestly, it won't be a perfect sentence as a native speaker will say, though)
" I am not able to watch that as I live in South Asia: Bangladesh.
Thank you because your story has informed me about it."

You know, @zahir, next year on March 16 there will be total solar eclipse in Asia
Then it's your turn to watch, maybe, a partial solar eclipse in Bangladesh.

    Nice @bubbli :)

Do you wear special glasses when you watch the eclipse @april? I ones watched an eclipse trough a CD. People said that's a good alternative, but actually it was not such a success.
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,125 mod
I have special glasses, @Frank and I won't advise any other alternative.
Even wearing eclipse glasses, I'm still worried for my eyes.
  • mheredgemheredge Teacher Here and therePosts: 26,514 mod
I never like the idea to looking at the sun @april. What do you mean @Frank, by watching through a CD? Is that the same as watching it online, live?
  • BubblyBubbly Nightingale Posts: 30,050 ✭✭✭✭✭✭
I have seen people using X-rays to watch eclipse but I think its harmful for the eyes.
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,125 mod
    I agree, @bubbli .
  • aprilapril Moderator Posts: 10,125 mod
I think, Frank means that they use a CD as a filter.
    A bit strange, honestly.

    Me, or the CD @april?

It's looking through the material of the CD indeed @mheredge; not something digitally. I'd read or heard this tip and when the eclipse was due I was at work, where there were no special spectacles available. However this is not a good advise.
