"Still lie the sheltering snows, undimmed and white;
And reigns the winter's pregnant silence still;
No sign of spring, save that the catkins fill,
And willow stems grow daily red and bright.
These are days when ancients held a rite
Of expiation for the old year's ill,
And prayer to purify the new year's will."

    A man was cleaning the windows of a 30 story high building. He slipped and fell off the ladder, yet he wasn’t hurt. How could this be true?
    He just fell off the 2nd step

    I give up. Why 'D'?

    You used a nice spoiler @lichaamstaal. I couldn't.
    'You can use Simple Html in your post' is written on my screen. This is the reason of my failure, I think, and you have more stars. Have you got permission to use scripts?

    @Bobmendez These letters: J F M A M J J A S O N, are the first letters of the names of the months. of the year. After N (November) comes D (December).

    I suspect all native speakers know what is it since childhood. What about us? Let's see...

    No sooner spoken than broken. What is it?

    The man, who was cleaning the window (from the @frank 's riddle), was cleaning the window from the inside. Maybe he didn't even need a ladder :)

    By the way, @Frank, be careful, when you are using this dangerous equipment!

    What is as big as you are and yet does not weigh anything?
  • FrankFrank Moderator Posts: 5,378 mod
    @Tinka
    1. Your reflection in the mirror
    2. your shadow - although this can vary in height.
  • TinkaTinka Posts: 773 ✭✭✭
    Well done, @Frank! Original answer is the shadow, but your first answer is logic, too.

    I found one another interesting riddle:

    Pronounced as one letter,
    And written with three,
    Two letters there are,
    And two only in me.
    I’m double, I’m single,
    I’m black, blue, and gray,
    I’m read from both ends,
    And the same either way.

    What am I?

    Very clever, @Frank. Here is another one:

    Why people in north part of Madrid don't sing their national anthem?

    Does it have to do with the anthem of the football team: Real Madrid Tinka?

    The question is about the officinal Spain National Anthem, which has no lyrics, @Frank (If wikipedia.org doesn't lie).
  • FrankFrank Moderator Posts: 5,378 mod
    Oh, I see @Tinka, they just hum the Anthem.
